Jump Roping

Jump to the Year 2025’s bounciest adventure!
A Co-production by Dance Theatre Raatikko and Dance Theatre Rimpparemmi.

In this interactive children’s piece, the characters Leap and Rope are experts at bouncing. With jump ropes as their toys, they never find themselves bored. Utilizing these ropes, they take the audience to the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, set up whimsical sports competitions, and even put on their very own circus show.

Welcome aboard this rhythmic dance journey, but be cautious—you might find yourself unwittingly roped in!

Choreographer Jaakko Toivonen often draws inspiration from his own childhood, a time when self-invented adventures were the most delightful games. A sandbox could turn into a hotel, a wardrobe into a portal to another dimension, and bike racks into horse stables. Play is a way to test the limits of the imagination, and the dance piece “Jump Roping” does just that!
