Rimpparemmi

Dance Theater Rimpparemmi is a regionally significant professional dance theater that tours all over Finland, including the northernmost Lapland. Increasing the accessibility and recognition of dance is a significant part of Rimpparemmi’s activities.

The group produces 2-4 premieres annually for various age groups. Rimpparemmi does not have its own home stage, so the venues change for each production. Dance theater performances are presented not only in traditional theater spaces but also boldly in various performance venues such as nightclubs.

Children’s culture and art education are essential aspects of Rimpparemmi’s activities. The dance theater produces at least one performance for children each year, which is performed widely throughout Lapland and the rest of Finland. In connection with these performances, Rimpparemmi also organizes workshops where children and young people can explore the world of dance and theater.

Mission

Primarily, Rimpparemmi creates and produces high-quality and thought-provoking art using dance as its primary medium. In addition to this main medium, important forms of expression include music, theater, and visual art. In Rimpparemmi’s dance productions, all these aspects come together and aim for the same goal: to provide the audience with an experience that stirs their minds, prompts them to think, and feel deeply.

Vision

Rimpparemmi is a strong advocate for dance culture, taking high-quality dance theater performances across Lapland, Finland, and abroad. Alongside the performance activities, new dance artists and broad cultural enthusiasts are trained.

In the future, dance art will play an increasingly important role in the performing arts field. Rimpparemmi is energetically and boldly participating in this development. Dance is an international, language-independent art form, and Rovaniemi and Lapland provide fertile ground for it through the international audience brought by the tourism industry.
