Culturehouse Wiljami

Culturehouse Wiljami

Wiljami Cultural Center, also known as Kansantalo, is a cultural center located in Rovaniemi that offers a diverse program spanning various art forms. The building was completed in 1947 and serves as a home venue for several cultural organizations in Rovaniemi—including Dance Theater Rimpparemmi, the Lapland Student Theater, and the Cinema Film Club, which all present their programs here.

Location

Our performance will take place at Kulttuuritalo Wiljami, near downtown Rovaniemi. Address: Urheilukatu 1, 96100 Rovaniemi.

Wiljami is easy to get to, whether you’re walking, biking, taking the bus, or driving.

Arrival and parking

Parking spaces are located on Urheilukatu and in front of the Wiljami Cultural Center. Parking is subject to a fee during the day.

When arriving for evening performances, you’ll usually find a spot easily—but we recommend arriving early so your evening can begin without the stress of finding parking.

Rovaniemi’s local buses run through the city center, and Wiljami is a short walk from several stops. You can find schedules and routes on the Rovaniemi local transport website.

Accessibility

Wiljami Cultural Center is not fully accessible. Access is nearly barrier-free via the back door, and there is an elevator inside with a weight limit of 200 kg. There are two wheelchair-accessible seats in the auditorium, and our staff will be happy to assist you upon arrival.

If you have any special needs, please let us know in advance—together, we’ll make sure your evening goes smoothly.

Doors and tickets

Doors usually open 1 hour before the show. Tickets are available at the Pystybaari Wiljami bar, provided the show is not sold out.

However, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance. Advance tickets are available online at NetTicket and in Rovaniemi at Osviitta in the city center at Koskikatu 19.

We accept major credit cards and cash. Cultural benefits (e.g., ePassi, Smartum, Edenred) are also accepted as payment.

Coat check

The coat check is staffed but self-service. Please leave your large bags and outerwear at the coat check so we can keep the auditorium comfortable for everyone.

Bar

The Wiljami Bar is open before the performance and during intermission. Refreshments, wine, and light snacks are available.

Drinks may be brought into the auditorium (unless otherwise noted), but let’s all help maintain the theater atmosphere.

When to arrive?

Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the show starts. This will give you time to:

✔️ check your coat

✔️ grab a drink

✔️ catch up with friends

✔️ get into the mood

Once the performance begins, the doors will close. Latecomers will be admitted at an appropriate point in the performance, if possible. We cannot guarantee admission to the auditorium immediately after the performance has started.

Seating

Wiljami's seating capacity is:

  • 114 seats in the standard seating area (which also includes tables between the chairs)
  • 177 seats in the expanded seating area (seating area without tables)
  • 2 wheelchair spaces

Restrooms

The restrooms are located on the ground floor.

The facility also has an accessible restroom.

Filming

For copyright reasons, you’re not allowed to record our performances, but you’re welcome to take a photo of the closing credits as a keepsake or share it on social media. Be sure to tag @Rimpparemmi in your posts so we can join in on the fun.

Duration

You can check the runtime of your performance on your ticket or on the Rimpparemmi website under each performance listing. This information will be posted on the website no later than the week of the premiere.

Almost all evenings organized by Rimpparemmi include an intermission. This is always noted in the performance details.

First timer?

Wonderful. We love first-timers. At Rimpparemmi’s performances, you’ll laugh, be moved, be surprised, and feel connected. You don’t need any prior knowledge—just show up.

We’ll take care of the rest.
